On its tenth anniversary, La clique is still one of the best variety shows at the Edinburgh Fringe, combining burlesque, circus, dance, comedy and magic into one incredible performance. It can’t fail to show you a good time. From the amazingly flexible Emma Serjeant, performing jaw dropping tricks with only a small hoop, to Piff the Magic Dragon performing magic tricks with his loveable assistant, the Chihuahua Mr Piffles, La Clique caters for every taste.
The cast aren’t afraid to interact with the audience (and the audience weren’t afraid to interact with the cast!) from their circular stage in the centre of the magical Spiegeltent. While sitting in the front row is highly recommended, watch out for flying roller blades and spurting whisky from this whirlwind show. The acts are accompanied by the wonderful Shuffle Club, skilfully blasting the saxophone and strumming the double bass throughout the show, taking the tent back to a classier time.
La Clique doesn’t lack for eye candy either, from the smoldering Madame du Voila, the burlesque beauty, to the swinging aerialist, Stephen Williams, potentially the only man in history to make sock suspenders sexy.
And if all else fails, how could a hysterically camp man in a blue bunny suit go wrong?
